WORKING TITLE: “EMO FOOTBALL”
Football season was fast approaching, especially for Nike Football's target demographic: the teenage modern warrior getting ready for high school or college competitive play. We created a social campaign for pre-season that reflected the real struggles of teen athletes at that time, and connected with our market in an honest and truthful way. While the rest of the category was swag and backflips, we chose to start the preseason on an emo tip.
For the voice of the campaign, we wanted someone who is a year or two removed from being a student player for #authenticity. Luckily we got Jameis Winston, a young professional player who went viral for his inspirational locker room speeches.
